Outdoor burning is prohibited May 1st to September 30th by the Georgia Environmental Protection Agency.

  Do I need a Burn permit?

  • Yes

  How do I get a Burn permit?

  • If you live inside the City Limits you need to contact the Fire Marshall
    8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 404-766-8248.

  What are the guidelines for residential burning?

  • Burning is limited to yard debris only (i.e., leaves, pine straw and fallen dead
    limbs) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or at dusk (whichever comes first).

  • All fires must be extinguished and be completely out after 6 p.m. or when dark.

  • Examples of illegal burning includes construction materials, and garbage.

  • Always have a working water hose nearby.

  • Fires must be 50 feet from all structures, and 10 feet from property lines.  

  Does the City have an ordinance on Burning?

  •  Yes - contact the Fire Marshall's Office for details.

  How do I get a copy of a Fire or EMS Report?

  • Generally, it will take an average time of 48 hours for reports to be processed.

  • Due to the nature of investigations some reports may not be readily available.

  • You may obtain a Report by calling Fire Headquarters.
    8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 404-766-8248.

  How do I become a College Park Firefighter?

  • Human Resources accepts applications only when a Job vacancy  and qualifications are posted.

  • Applications may be obtained at City Hall.
    Monday-Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 404-767-1537

  What does it take to be a Firefighter?

  •   The job of Firefighter is a physically and psychologically demanding job.

  •   The applicant must be able to pass a series of exams including: a background
      check, physical exam (including a drug screening), physical agility test, oral
      interview, written exam, and a psychological exam.

  •   The candidate will attend Fire and EMT Schools after completing the
      Hiring process.  

  Does the Department trade patches?

  • College Park Fire Rescue does not officially endorse patch trading.
    Personnel are provided patches for their uniforms only. 

  What does "Urbs Populum Servant" mean?

  •   It is Latin for our motto: Servant of the Urban Population.
